Position Summary

The Vendor Services Manager of IT Vendor & Financial Management is responsible for the oversight and management of all IT vendors and associated investments supporting the Enterprise Information Technology Department for CPS Energy.  This role leads various aspects of vendor management, to include contract maintenance and compliance, performance, financial analysis, relationship and risk management. Position will develop and maintain contractual, commercial, performance management and operational working relationships with vendors to ensure cost-effective delivery of committed goods and services

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Follows IT vendor management framework & best practices as well as assessing the outsourcing process for the organization’s IT department.
  • Facilitates overall vendor lifecycle management and develops level performance scorecards for top tier vendors to drive continuous improvements and ensure vendor decisions/strategy aligns with vendor’s performance track record.
  • Oversee the evaluation and selection of vendors as well as the negotiation of purchase contracts or service level agreements. Manage performance, risk & relationships issues that arise with vendors or products as necessary.
  • Acts as a liaison between vendors, customers and all external/internal stakeholders.
  • Responsible for developing, tracking and reporting on key metrics (i.e. deliverables, financials, duration, benefits) and communicating findings to influence internal project/program methodologies and approaches, service level agreements & key performance indicators.
  • Responsible for assisting upper-level management with moderately complex planning, reporting & budgeting for all IT contracts.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Understanding of contracts, negotiations, and the procurement processes.
Ability to manage multiple aggressive RFP schedules and responses.
Experience managing technical projects.
Exposure to vendor management best practices.
Exceptional soft and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, communication, facilitation and negotiation.
Excellent analytical and technical skills.
Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills.
Solid knowledge of the IT industry and the products and services provided by technology vendors.
Understanding of the entire vendor life cycle (sourcing, procurement, vendor management), and how internal roles interact and operate throughout the duration of vendor engagements.
Solid knowledge of financial concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in either business management or a computer science-related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • Experience  in managing vendors and contract compliance pertaining to IT operations. 
  • Experience managing moderately complex IT related projects 
  • Training or certification in organization change management 
  • Desired professional qualifications may include:
  • IT Service Management (ITSM) and/or Information Infrastructure Library (ITIL) experience

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in either business management or a computer science-related field of study or equivalent experience.

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
