Position Summary

The energy industry is currently on the cusp of exciting transformation driven by technological advances, changing business and operating models and evolving customer expectations. Overlaying these trends is the fast-paced advance of digital technologies which provide opportunities to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations and transform our working environment.  

This role leads CPS Energy’s digital platforms, enterprise applications, and data strategy to deliver customer and business value. The VP will define and execute a roadmap for digital experience, analytics, and application lifecycle management, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities. This leader will champion data governance, AI enablement, and secure use of data to drive actionable insights and innovation.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Partnership & Collaboration

  • Collaborate and build trusted relationships with senior and executive management across the company

  • Serve as trusted advisor to other executives and leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs, ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services

  • Provide thought-leadership and develops transformation initiatives that integrate digital solutions into business and operating models                                       

Strategy Development

  • Lead the development of digital, business technology, data and analytics services strategy and roadmap and ensure its integration with the overall IT and enterprise strategic plans

  • Communicate clear vision for department through effective messaging and partnering with other leaders and team members ensuring technology alignment with the business

  • Articulate how strategic, emerging, and operational technologies can help be more successful through efficiency, profitability, customer and employee satisfaction

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide expertise in executive leadership including personal development, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and employee engagement management

  • Develop and maintain a technology workforce with the appropriate mix of business knowledge, technical skills and competencies

  • Develop and maintain a culture where team members are enabled to take accountability, to collaborate cross-functionally, to inspire the best in each other, and to care for each other resulting in a strong customer service mindset

Digital Solutions & Transformation

  • Translate overall strategic direction and business objectives into holistic, aligned digital and data transformation strategies that deliver value for customers, partners and employees

  • Build a robust transformation organization including capabilities, functions, standards, tools and processes that guide toward the next generation of solutions

  • Lead and manage the implementation of new systems, enterprise applications, digital and analytics solutions and platforms

  • Champion the responsible and secure use of data to uncover additive insight and explore sources of customer, employee, and operational intelligence as fuel for strategy-setting and improvement

  • Partner with internal and external technology system providers to plan for short term and future needs; Partner with Procurement in vendor identification and negotiations for required services

  • Coordinate with IT leadership and internal audit in responding to regulatory or auditing requests. Implement and manage governance processes that result in effective controls and alignment between the internal business and IT partners

  • Define strategy and team key metrics for measuring the performance in alignment with established budgets 

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Experience building and delivering on technology solutions and data strategies for a significant, high-profile organization, such as a government agency, public.
Demonstrated experience with predictive analytics and relevant technology tools.
A digital experience-savvy technologist and passionate problem-solver with deep expertise in customer and employee experience design.
Deep experience designing, developing and supporting highly complex critical systems.
A strategic thought leader with a strong background or practiced expertise in service design thinking and innovative UX methods, who obtains behavioral insights that incite successful experience strategies.
A proven leader and relationship builder with an authoritative presence and confident communication style with executive-level partners; easily accessible to all levels of the organization.
Extensive experience with identifying technologies that improve the experience of users (including their effectiveness and efficiency).
Extensive knowledge of technology standards, strategies and solutions to drive Digital, CMS and CRM business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a technical field
  • Significant experience in building and delivering on digital and data strategies for a significant, high-profile organization, such as a government agency, public corporation, or a major non-profit entity

Minimum Education

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Indoor/Outdoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. After hours work may be required.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
