Position Summary
Performs the installation, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of electronic security equipment. Completes work in accordance with the relevant codes and NERC regulations. Maintains technical expertise in dealing with access control systems, CCTV systems, electronic security equipment, security alarms, etc.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Installs, monitors, maintains and repairs surveillance equipment designed to safeguard and protect cyber-sensitive assets and for controlling access to such equipment.
- Performs recordkeeping as required by North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Protocols.
- Examines security and access control systems to locate, identify and repair problems.
- Tests backup features, programming and other electronic security measures and countermeasures to ensure proper functioning and to diagnose malfunctions.
- Installs security panels, alarm sensors, video mounted cameras and covert cameras.
- Installs, maintains or repairs security systems, alarm devices and related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
- Assists other trades personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities (i.e. coordination with electricians, locksmith, carpenters, overseeing jobs to completion).
- Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/security concerns.
- Attends meetings, workshops, training, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Attend training for the particular systems in place, receive certifications from the training for position progression.
