Position Summary

Use ESRI software for entry-level gas/electric facility edits and data maintenance activities to production GIS database. Use GIS tools to review facility data for spatial accuracy and completeness, perform job reconcile and posting activities. Support internal and external customers with data and mapping requests, as needed and perform basic trouble-shooting support for GIS users.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, analyze and implement facility-level gas and electric facility data updates from job construction sketches, as-built sheets, or mobile applications using standardized CPS symbology and data placement business rules, related to civic improvement, rehab or other existing work.
  • Assist in maintaining schematics, drawings and complex underground designs. 
  • Perform activities to support monthly reports to consistently meet or exceed corporate cycle time metrics.
  • Perform facility-level data attribute and spatial QA/QC checks to validate GIS data integrity.
  • Perform basic and mid-level GIS user support to ensure SDE posting processes continue unimpeded.  
  • Verify and maintain correct asset management-customer premise associations. 
  • Research and verify feature level and/or work location data conflicts and resolution in SDE batch reconcile and post process.
  • Validate SDE requirements, parent/child associations, sub-unit records, connectivity, snapping; missing features, objects or attributes required to support outside client end-user applications.
  • Validate gas line pressure discrepancies, confirm gas service measurement and feature placement consistency.
  • Maintain electrical connectivity, phasing, and voltage discrepancies, looping errors, and confirm that all required facility feature attributes are accurate and complete.
  • Coordinate data updates with outside GIS user-groups to resolve field change requests and/or field-to-map discrepancies. 
  • Perform occasional field verification for GIS facility attribute and placement updates
  • Produce specialty Gas and Electric facility mapping and data product requests for internal and external use.
  • Maintain and ensure successful GIS data exports to critical modeling and outage applications such as ADMS, EMS SCADA, Gas SCADA, CYME and Synergi; support CPS Energy IT groups and other related third-party enterprise GIS software integrations such as CGI ARM Work Manager and SAP. 
  • Follow business rules to improve the quality for export to other systems. 
  • Perform process for data conversion, technical documentation for mapping and construction placement standards and procedures related to data integrity & maintenance. 
     

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

GIS Degree or GIS certification and Experience using ESRI ArcGIS desktop application.
Documented experience digitizing and editing ESRI ArcGIS data, knowledge of using map tools, and application of cartographic principles.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
Ability to work under heavy surges in workload and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Functional GIS experience in the Gas and Electric utility industry.
  • Demonstrated experience to use and develop effective QAQC processes to maintain GIS data integrity requirements.
  • Documented experience working in ESRI Utility Network (UN) or an ESRI enterprise multi-user data ArcGIS environment.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED

Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events.
