Position Summary
Responsible for analyzing meter and system data to identify and resolve issues including missed or incorrect meter reads, meter tampering, meter communication problems, meter disconnection/reconnection, and theft of service to include the coordinating, routing, and dispatching of work orders for gas and electric service meters. This position requires the ability to gain the knowledge and experience through training to function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in gas metering, electric metering, and Smart Meter Data Management.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Possess and maintains a general working knowledge of the operational systems within the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) process
- Perform day-to-day functions within the AMI, MDM, and SAP systems, including the review of missed meter reads; the review of meter events and alarms; the review of reports identifying meter/meter read issues
- Perform analysis of meter related issues and determine the appropriate course of action to address these issues.
- Create service orders within SAP/MDS systems to further analyze meter related issues, and work towards resolution of these issues
- Monitor system jobs and batch processes, and report on issues that are identified. Provide support for identifying additional opportunities to increase value through report development, and meter data analysis.
- Assist in creating, maintaining, and completing daily, monthly, weekly, and ad-hoc statistical reports using various systems and reporting tools including SAP and BI reporting for the department
- Under general supervision make independent real time decisions concerning work load and work distribution in a high pressure and fast paced work environment.
- Monitor AMI meter data collection process, meter alarms and events and investigate issues where further action is required.
- Confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities
- Be flexible in working hours, work under pressure, work well in a team environment
- Work on special projects or tasks for Management
- Create work orders, message notifications, and field service orders using various systems including MDS, SAP, UIQ, and EIP
- Support Root Cause Analysis and process improvements for department
- Performs account research and analysis, including field investigations to ensure device is communicating properly with the head end system while following safety procedures.
- Maintain records and compiles detailed statistics for monthly reporting.
- Works in an energized environment while utilizing all assigned CPS Energy safety equipment.
- Exposure to hazardous environments to include: rough terrain, dangerous animals, obstacles and irate customers.
- Familiarly with CPS Energy gas and electric distribution practices.
- Ability to work with CPS Energy employees and possibly outside agencies, at all levels, as part of the investigation process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling.
- Familiar with Oracle databases
- CATT software knowledge
