Position Summary
Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the health & welfare, life, disability, leave of absence, employee assistance, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefit plans. Provides customer service and serves as a liaison between vendors, employees, and retirees.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Plans and administers the day-to-day operations of the CPS Energy benefit programs to include Medical, Dental, Vision, Wellness, FMLA, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, Employee Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement, Life Insurance, and Retirement Plans. Assists plan participants with benefit inquiries and provides excellent customer service to ensure their questions are resolved in a timely manner. Functions as a liaison between vendors and participants and advises on eligibility, coverage, and other benefit matters.
- Develops and maintains detailed procedures for the efficient administration of the benefit plans and the operation of the department.
- Coordinates transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration. Works effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly. Investigates discrepancies and provides information in non-routine situations.
- Evaluates and revises internal processes to improve benefit administration processes, reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Prepares and processes payments to vendors and third-party administrators and premium payments to insurance companies.
- Responsible for a variety of benefit-related duties including data input into benefit administration system, processing of new requests, change in family status information, termination transactions, and death claims.
- Verifies/records payroll deductions.
- Utilizes the system of record for research and analysis.
- Serves as lead Specialist and assists peers with routine administration inquiries and provides training to others as needed.
- Uses independent judgement to evaluate discrepancies and determine appropriate resolutions.
- Eagerly learns new skills/tasks to improve the efficiencies of the job functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
