Position Summary
Provides leadership to the overall section. Monitors and manages workload, work flow, budgetary spending, staffing levels, contractual agreements, staff development and engagement, and Corporate Business Plans. Serves as lead engineer of the section and is responsible for approving all jobs that are designed for overhead civic improvement, infrastructure modernization, system growth, and reliability projects on the distribution system. Identifies and implements process improvements related to Overhead Engineering and Construction for increased Customer satisfaction and improved business efficiencies. Ensure that customers and stakeholders receive accurate information, timely service, and appropriate engineering assistance. Develop, maintain and communicate measures of key business activities and perform project management on major projects.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Manages overhead engineering processes to ensure successful completion of projects and accurate information in all systems
- Implements key business strategies for Energy Delivery Services (EDS)
- Executes contractual agreements and manages internal controls to track spending and ensure timely completion of work
- Review and approves customer encroachment and exception requests in overhead electric easements
- Review and approves construction drawings, job instructions, material lists and schedules for construction workload.
- Provides technical support and final approval for exceptions to overhead design and construction standards
- Assists with the development of new overhead standards and technical specifications that are used across the company
- Assists Supply Chain with new orders for critical material such as Reclosers, Tripsavers, and Engineered Poles
- Conducts final engineering review of overhead designs developed by internal staff and apply PE Seal
- Review and approve all Overhead Engineering design work orders in ARM to ensure compliance with established design and construction standards, including verification of quality design drawings and accuracy of estimated costs
- Develops and manages annual Capital and O&M budgets within established targets and schedules
- Develops a culture of safety awareness, appropriate safety precautions and procedures
- Coordinates with Construction and other stakeholders for exceptional Customer service with one-company mindset.
- Provides design and engineering expertise to Customer Design & Development for complex overhead projects
- Provides active supervision to section employees including performance evaluations, professional development, technical and general training, coaching, and engagement
- Manages overall staffing levels within the section including recruiting efforts for active vacancies
- Interprets and applies Electric Service Standards and Line Extension Policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
