Position Summary
This position ensures CPS Energy follows Texas Department of Insurance/Division of Workers’ Compensation for work related injuries and FMLA regulations for personal illnesses. Manages relationships with CPS Energy employees, departments, stakeholders and outside vendors for work related injuries and personal illnesses. Serves as the liaison between the disability and leave management third party administrators. Provides guidance to leadership and employees regarding the leave management and EAP processes and correspondence to ensure that compliance with company policies, FMLA regulations and ADAAA are followed.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Serves as a subject matter expert for all aspects of Leave Management policies, practices, and processes.
- Monitor and track critical dates in the leave cycle and communicate with employees and management as appropriate.
- Maintain appropriate contact with all employees on leave and coordinate all aspects of return to work.
- Evaluate and administer legal and regulatory changes and formulate recommendations for policy, practice, or process changes, as appropriate.
- Ensure accurate leave information is updated in the HRIS database and audits reports to ensure the system is accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate with payroll and vendors on administration, reporting and analysis.
- Develops and maintains multiple client relationships
- Serves as a subject matter expert for Worker's Compensation. Acts as a liaison between vendor and employees and provides support for the Occupational Health team related to work related injuries.
- Conduct ad hoc analysis and reporting related to Leave Management and Workers’ Compensation reporting to Risk Management.
- Engage with employees to support and facilitate their return to work and formulate recommendations regarding continued leave as a reasonable accommodation.
- Protect confidentiality of employee medical information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Analyze, review, update and/or develop LOA related policies and related forms, documents, or communications, as appropriate; administers implementation, coordination and roll out of said policies.
- Manages and participates in audits of long term disability benefits from internal and external auditors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Experience with SAP
- Previous supervisory and/or leadership experience that included direct responsibility for performance appraisals and compensation of multiple employees
- Knowledge of all applicable government regulations including HIPPA, FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Compensation Act
