Position Summary
The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio high school students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to perform, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used.
The Technical Services Support Intern will learn the value of the TSD group to the company while providing support to the Program Management Office, Power Quality & Technical Solutions, Vegetation Management, Transformer Shop and Reliability Engineering Group. As an intern you will shadow an assigned employee and learn technical skills related to the Technical Services areas within EDS. You will perform a variety of duties that will be general or specialized nature in support of Technical Services and can be administrative or technical. This can include but not limited to assisting with daily tasks, participate in meetings, develop, or update procedures and processes Additionally, you will be able to provide feedback and recommendations to streamline existing processes.

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Prepares drone equipment to take out for flights.
- Document and update current processes to include Standard Operating Procedure and Environmental Operating Prcedures.
- Performs basic database updates to ensure records are properly maintained.
- Learn technical skills related to the Technical Services Distribution areas.
- Perform a variety of duties that will be general or specialized nature in support of Technical Services and can be administrative or technical.
- Shadows assigned employee to learn new skills related to that area.
- Assists on special projects and teams as requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of drone capabilities
- Possess a part 7 remote pilot license.
- Experience in Cascade, Excel, or Apex data base.
- Knowledge of Vegetation Management practices and procedures.
- Basic Electric knowledge
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
