Position Summary
The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio college students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to do things, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used.
The primary purpose of this intern position is to support the corporate Quality Assurance program. Overall responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting the tracking of action items, internal control reviews, meeting preparation, data analyses, and metric attainment review.

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Support and participate in conducting post-analysis reviews of past Root Cause Analyses to determine the effectiveness of mitigation plans and gap closures.
- Participate in Corporate and Business Root Cause Analysis (RCA), After Action Reviews (AARs) and System Outage Summary (SOS) report meetings. Assist team leads with recording applicable notes & key takeaways & action items.
- Assist in monitoring action item completion for RCAs, AARs and SOS reports.
- Ability to perform analysis of data and trends as a result of RCAs, AARs and SOS reports.
- Review internal controls for key processes reviewed as part of RCAs, AARs and SOS reports.
- Review process flows, internal controls integration, remediation of control deficiencies or design gaps and assisting management in analyzing needed changes to assigned processes.
- Assist with the review of operational processes and procedures to determine compliance and consistency with established policies.
- Recommends controls when reviewing key processes, records, and proper alignment to business unit metrics and identified & emerging risks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
