Position Summary
The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio college students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to perform, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used.
Regulatory Compliance Analyst Intern will work with subject matter experts (SMEs) in preparing and demonstrating compliance to regulatory requirements. The intern will work with compliance team and business area experts to document processes, monitor and track rules, and evaluate and develop tasks pertaining to ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides, Public Utility Commission rules, and NERC Regulatory requirements. Work includes regulatory process mapping, reviewing and interpreting standards, reviewing processes and procedures, and meeting with SMEs to validate that they have information or artifacts that support them following a process. Work will primarily orient in the Main Office complex, but may also extend to trips to the power plants, controls centers, or transmission substations.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Coordinate with manager or designate on objective or activity for the day.
- The Intern will assist in documenting regulatory processes using standard Microsoft tools.
- The Intern will perform duties similar to regulatory compliance analyst.
- The Intern will learn how to review regulatory standards.
- The Intern will learn how to draft and review business unit processes and procedures and assess compliance artifacts.
- The intern will observe and understand CPS Energy’s methodology of monitoring new and current standards.
- The intern will work with business units to modify processes and procedures.
- The intern will learn about the Energy Market and how CPS Energy participates.
- The intern will learn fundamentals of grid reliability and compliance including generation and transmission perspectives.
- Mon-Fri arrives on pre-determined schedule.
