Position Summary

The Business Continuity Program Manager develops, supports and oversees CPS Energy’s business continuity/incident management program.  This position works with multiple functions to support, develop, maintain, and implement business continuity plans and solutions across CPS Energy including integrating related processes into teams across the company. This position is responsible for organizing and maintaining the corporate business continuity program to ensure our teams, processes, systems, power generation, energy delivery and gas platform are prepared to respond to a business impacting event. CPS Energy is searching for a Business Continuity Program Mgr/Analyst to provide consultation, guidance, and oversight to the business units in support of our business continuity program.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Guide and assist all business unit business continuity planners through business continuity plan creation, exercising, and maintenance.
  • Interface with all levels of the organization to inform and consult with respect to the implementation of the business continuity program.
  • Provide input on strategic direction of the program and implement elements of our business continuity strategic plan.
  • Coordinate and conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA) with business units.
  • Measure and report compliance for all requirements under the Business Continuity Policy and Framework 
  • Maintain a testing plan calendar, and propose integrated testing scenarios 
  • Plan and coordinate annual training programs for Business Continuity Process Owners, Location Coordinators, and Floor Monitors. 
  • Identify and provide necessary training and education to the members of the Emergency Evacuation Team
  • Ensure that documents required under the Business Continuity Policy are stored in accordance with Program requirements 
  • Monitor/review plans and other documentation required under the Business Continuity Policy for compliance with external standards as well as internal policies and procedures
  • Review BCP Plan Test Results and help ensure appropriate follow up on action plans 
  • Update or Review Business Continuity framework documents at least twice annually to ensure documents remain current 
  • Maintain and update the Emergency and Evacuation Plan, which provides standard emergency guides used at each site/facility 
  • Maintain and publish a listing of alternate locations for operations 
  • Coordinate scheduling of annual evacuation drills with the Location Coordinators, and maintain records that document the results of the evacuation drills
  • Administer Living Disaster Recovery Planning System (LDRPS)
  • Perform other duties and serve on special project teams as assigned.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Demonstrated experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis planning, emergency management, enterprise risk management or related role.
Solid understanding of business continuity principles and other applicable business operations.
Ability to articulate the business problem to be analyzed, quickly identify the critical elements of the problem, achieve a high-quality answer in a timely fashion, and synthesize answers to resonate with decision makers.
Demonstrated capability with effectively communicating complex ideas and analysis verbally at all levels.
Demonstrated track record of achievement in professional and / or personal pursuits.
Excellent organizational, analytical, planning, multi-tasking, negotiation, problem-solving, verbal, written and communication skills.
Strong skills using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to work with time constraints and handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with other team members, external counterparties, and with all levels of personnel within CPS Energy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Emergency/Incident Management, criminal justice or other related field from an accredited university
  • Graduate degree in Business Administration, Communications, Emergency/Incident Management, or other related field from an accredited university
  • Professional certification in Business Continuity such as Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or equivalent industry certification
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or equivalents preferred
  • Other equivalent industry certifications
  • Working knowledge of electric and gas utility risk, insurance, or operations

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business events. After hours work may be required.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
