Position Summary
As a Trainee be familiar and assist Foremen, Journeymen and Apprentices with all tools, handheld meters and test equipment used in performing job duties. Respond to instructions or request when given, inform Foremen, Journeymen or Apprentices of possible safety hazards. Be self-motivated to learn about equipment, materials and their proper uses in their support to EDS. Learn and understand clearance procedures on one-line diagrams and sketches.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Operate Fork lift and overhead cranes to load and unload electrical equipment for transport.
- Follow crew member hand signals, gestures and shouted instructions to complete work assignments safely.
- Operate Deadman on all bucket trucks and perform a proper Deadman rescue.
- Install ground rods for #2 stranded grounding wire to ground each device as a safety factor upon completion.
- Work with and test mineral oil for PCBs.
- Drive and Operate Bucket trucks, storeroom trucks, oil trucks and bread vans to and from job sites.
- Operate PC software in order to document and save data pertaining to electronic devices.
- Required to facilitate project completion.
- Must be able to understand, follow, and apply information given in sketches, Accident Prevention Guidebook, and Time Sheets.
- Must be able to work with and around high voltages as it pertains to the operation, maintenance, repair, removal and installation of Distribution Automation equipment.

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Have experience with Handheld/High voltage meters
- Have experience with operating bucket truck controls
- Have experience with the safe operations of various types of Distribution P-switches
- Understanding of basic electricity and construction
- Knowledge of general hand tools and PC software
- Knowledge of Construction Procedures including blue prints, construction drawings, and sketches
