Position Summary

Responsible for analyzing meter and system data to identify and resolve issues including missed or incorrect meter reads, meter tampering, meter communication problems, meter disconnection/reconnection, and theft of service to include the coordinating, routing, and dispatching of work orders for gas and electric service meters. This position requires the ability to gain the knowledge and experience through training to function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in gas metering, electric metering, and Smart Meter Data Management.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate route and daily work using various production systems to include MDS, SAP, UIQ, and EIP
  • Provides support to and/or administers one or more production systems
  • Operates and maintains a general working knowledge of the operational systems within the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Process
  • Assist in creating, maintaining, and completing daily, monthly, weekly, and ad-hoc statistical reports using various systems and reporting tools including SAP, FCS, Tableau, and BI reporting for the department
  • Perform all upload options; verify status of data and equipment. Identify data, programs, and operating systems or equipment problems and take corrective action as required, including restoration of data files.
  • Under general supervision make independent real time decisions concerning work load and work distribution in a high pressure and fast paced work environment.
  • Analyze and report on operational processes and resource utilization to help achieve required service levels
  • Analyze customer data in various systems to identify persons responsible for theft of service
  • Monitor AMI meter data collection process, meter alarms and events and investigate issues where further action is required.
  • Perform field quality checks for escalated metering and customer issues
  • Coordinate with external and internal areas for theft of service, no access, business processes, cancellations, disconnects/reconnects, customer complaints, etc.
  • Maintain, and/or troubleshoot handheld/MC2, software issues and other equipment
  • Create work orders, message notifications, and field service orders using various systems including MDS, SAP, UIQ, and EIP
  • Test and coordinate testing for system enhancements, problem resolution, and process improvements.
  • Optimize, balance, and sequence routes and districts using Route Smart system
  • Provide assistance with Root Cause Analysis and process improvements for department
  • Update meter reading instructional information due to irate customers or dangerous environments
  • Researches and investigates utility billing records and various technical utility service records to assess fees and charges from tampering, equipment failures, and billing errors
  • Confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings, training sessions, events, and presentations for department
  • Be flexible in working hours, work under pressure, work well in a team environment
  • Have the ability to multitask; can balance multiple projects and deadlines along with real-time business needs
  • Work on special projects or tasks for Management
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Skills

Personal Computer Usage

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Working knowledge of gas and electric meters in the field or in the SAP system

Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains trust and respect; ability to promote teamwork

Possess a valid driver’s license with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPSE policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

Field experience preferred

Dispatching or Routing experience preferred

SAP, MDS, and/or FCS systems experience preferred

Work is performed indoors & outdoors. Manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of computing equipment, telephone, & printer/copier. Ability to travel to and from business related events. After hours work may be required.
