Position Summary

Oversees and supervises the progress of the Gas Measurement and Tool Room areas as required. Is responsible for overseeing all areas pertaining to gas metering operations and oversees the acceptance, maintenance, and accuracy of all gas meters and gas service regulators used by various areas throughout CPS. Is Responsible for supply chain and warehousing functionality as it applies to gas meter and regulator inventories, including any associated equipment such as volume correctors, sensors, meter communication devices, Tool Room parts and equipment, etc.  Is responsible for maintaining the above inventory at levels to support the company’s requirements.  

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manages, monitors, and evaluates personnel within the department, including salaried and wage-scale employees, including Schedulers, Journeymen, Apprentices, and Trainees.
  • Manages, performs field representative duties, monitors external contracts, creates service entry sheets, validates, and approves invoices.
  • Manages and oversees the dispatching of personnel for all routine, planned, or other work, including identifying work orders for the scheduler to create for Gas Measurement personnel.
  • Ensures employees and contractors are all compliant with Operator Qualification requirements to perform job functions. 
  • Maintains and improves internal customer relationships with gas construction, system operators, customer engineering, energy advisers, operations, and purchasing.
  • Maintains and improves external customer relationships with vendors, industry peers, and CPS Energy customers.
  • Monitor Gas Pi and Talon networks to include troubleshooting EVC, download scheduling, and SIM cards.
  • Monitors and manages capital budget and O&M expenses for the area and provides the latest estimate updates as required.
  • Responsible for scheduling and purchasing all the gas metering, regulating, and electronic sensing equipment needed by the Gas Solutions team.
  • Responsible for submitting orders and ensuring adequate supply for various materials such as gas meters, regulators, gas meter communication modules, gas meter parts, gas regulator parts, various types of hardware required by the meter shop, gaskets, filters, and multiple items that are needed to maintain our meter repair facility.  Including the creation of purchase requisitions, receipt of materials, and goods issue
  • Assists and helps identify AMI gas meter communication issues utilizing SAP and UIQ
  • Initiates and coordinates the return of defective equipment to the original manufacturer for repair and calibration when needed. 
  • Monitor, maintain, and revise gas meter and regulator specifications as needed to ensure our gas measurement standards are met.
  • Assists in establishing multiple contracts that will be needed for the Gas Meter Shop and Tool Room work areas. 
  • Helps coordinate and schedule the required recertifications needed for the Provers and other calibration equipment used in the meter shop and Tool Room.   
  • Assists the Billing area with misreads, High Bill complaints, and IDOC errors that hold up the billing process.
  • Assists in creating and calculating job proposals for the installation of pulse initiator requests by the customer for Energy Management purposes. 
  • Assists in training and sharing gas measurement information with the work group and the Gas Solutions team when necessary. 
  • Assists in performing driver and safety observations for the area when necessary.
  • Supports in performing quality assurance checks on work performed by internal personnel and external contractors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
     

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPS Energy policies, procedures, safety standards and applicable laws and regulations
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail, and scheduling.
Important to this position are operation monitoring, critical thinking, active listening, and complex problem solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess working knowledge of SAP/MDS, and UIQ
  • Project management, quality control analysis, operation, and control.
  • Intermediate experience in the analysis and management of gas meter operations and repair, gas service regulator repair and operations, gas measurement or related area, and understands the basic processes for work order management, contract, and warehousing/storeroom functionality.

Working Environment

Work is performed primarily indoors and some outdoors, operating a computer, requiring manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, and calculator.
Employees may potentially be exposed to hazardous chemicals, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, and a noisy and dusty environment.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. After-hours work may be required.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
