Position Summary

Identify and assess new technologies whose implementation and general availability may benefit CPS Energy strategic programs, operational efficiency, reliability and customer satisfaction. Determines product maturity and relative difficulty and risk implementation and maintenance. Conducts industry benchmarking, monitor’s market trends, and leads/coordinates analysis to determine best fit and business value. May provide leadership for selected product implementations. Responsibilities may include working in or with various departments. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers at all levels of the CPS Energy organization. Participates in strategic team efforts and the development of departmental goals and objectives. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible to implement and manage projects that support and leverage new technologies for utilization of renewable energy, distributed energy resources, and resilient designs including microgrids, solar, electric vehicles, and energy storage.
  • Identification and assessment of new technology offerings for CPS Energy operations and customers. 
  • Evaluates and determines product maturity and ease/difficulty of implementation and maintenance.
  • Conducts industry benchmarking and monitors market trends to determine possible new technology offerings.
  • Leads and coordinates technology offerings analysis to determine best fit and business value.
  • Development and implementation of new technology offerings for CPS Energy operations and customers.
  • Manage external contract resources and oversees joint relationships on research programs such as EPRI, UTSA, Sandia, etc.
  • Monitors market trends to determine any new technology offerings and develops business case proposals to support continued research and demonstrate benefit to company operations.
  • Development and operation of various systems used to report the on the status of particular technology offerings.
  • Supports development and documentation of business processes within applicable divisions in support of the implementation process.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on research findings and related corporate strategies to diverse audiences at local, state, or national venues.
  • May develop procurement and technical specifications for vendor or contractor services.
  • May coordinate field activities as assigned.
  • Budget, schedule, and cross-functional resource management as assigned.
  • Project management duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data and have an understanding of reporting tools and techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead high-impact activities to keep initiatives moving forward while meeting deadlines.
  • Manages procurement processes and manages vendor relationships.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills and comfortable presenting to senior management

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License with favorable driving record.
  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of new technologies to include; business and technical assessment of products, project management or process design and implementation
  • Experience with Change Management communication or communications planning.

Minimum Education

Bachelors of Science degree in engineering, mathematics, information technology or related field from an accredited university

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Office environment using standard office equipment and software packages. Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion.
Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events.
Occasional out-of-town travel may be necessary. After hours work may occasionally be required.

Physical Demands

Work is primarily sedentary. Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects may be required.
