Position Summary

This role is to design, plan, monitor, and improve the organization’s Data Analytics, Data Governance and Data Transformation functions. In partnership with business areas, legal and security he/she will create data standards of use and oversee its compliance.  Further, for strategic data assets he/she will lead development and adoption of customer-centric data-level architecture & documentation supporting data catalogue, data policies, business processes, data and analytics term definitions/dictionary, privacy compliance and data protection incident response needs of legal and security executives. His/her team will provide expertise and support to the organization to meet these goals. He/she will serve as the Digital & Data liaison in the CPS Energy Cyber Security Consortium and his/her team will establish auditable processes to share data with external partners and vendors.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the business as a member of the Digital & Data leadership team.
  • Lead strategic and operational planning for the organization’s Data Analytics practices, focusing on meeting business needs and requirements through data functions.
  • Identify opportunities for the organization to further leverage data and improve its economic, competitive, and operational positioning.
  • Develop and maintain the organizational structure of the organization’s Data Analytics team.
  • Develop, adopt and manage the organization’s data strategy.
  • Establish Data Analytics goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities for the Data Analytics team and the greater business.
  • Understand and support the organization’s data analytics & digital experience operations.
  • Review and monitor the organization’s data related technology procurements and resourcing.
  • Develop business justifications and cost: benefit analysis for data related spending and initiatives.
  • Understand and monitor the regulatory and security requirements for data related to customer privacy and the electric and gas utility industry; ensuring compliance and proper protection occurs.
  • Understand the different business requirements for data (marketing, finance, operations, etc.).
  • Lead data Analytics reviews and opportunity assessment processes that identify improvement opportunities related to: process efficiency, cost savings, business model expansion, and competitive advantages.
  • Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders from the business and other sources to define business and process requirements for new technology.
  • Review, prioritize, and control projects and the project portfolio related to Data Analytics.
  • Review hardware and software acquisitions related to data assets.
  • Assess and review the new technology opportunities related to Data Analytics (e.g. the Cloud), and how these will impact the organization’s Data Analytics operations.
  • Ensure continuous delivery of data solutions, through oversight of service level agreements and performance targets.
  • Oversee the end-to-end Analytics of the organization’s data assets (data lifecycle, information lifecycle) and ensure Reliable Data Quality.
  • Ensure data system operations adhere to regulatory compliance standards.
  • Ensure data assets in the organization are managed in a secure manner, adhering to security and privacy requirements. 
  • Keep current with trends and issues within the Data Analytics space, adapting and transforming the business’s Data Analytics process and technologies to support further business growth and opportunities.
  • Establish controls for ensuring efficient and effective data Analytics functions are performed.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Experience managing and/or directing a Data Analytics team.
Experience with Data Governance.
Experience in strategic planning and initiative designs.
Technical knowledge related to the IT space.
Strong understanding of how different departments (marketing, finance, operations, etc.) will have different data uses and requirements.
Proven experience in Data Analytics planning, organization and development.
Strong understanding of project or product Analytics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in one of these fields preferred. 
  • Experience or knowledge of the data requirements for electric and gas utility industry regulations (e.g. NERC, ERCOT, CIP, PHMSA, etc.)
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or other Agile Methodologies
  • Knowledge and experience of DAMA DMBOK and the different disciplines of Data Analytics.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science or business administration

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Work is performed both indoors & outdoors. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events. After hours work may be required.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
