Position Summary

Landbase GIS Specialist performs a variety of GIS duties to develop, maintain, update GIS data, and support the design, implementation for Customer Design & Delivery.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Input textual and geographic data for preparation of GIS mapping and special projects. Inputs data from designs, as-built job construction sketches or subdivision plats for updating and maintaining Landbase, Electric and Gas features in CPS Energy Geographic Database and ensure data integrity.
  • Import CAD layers, geo-referencing coordinates for spatial placement in GIS layer.
  • Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance on all data entered by Landbase Services into GIS Database for data integrity.
  • Validate, parent/child associations, connectivity, snapping, missing features or objects, and missing attributes required as it relates to Land, Gas and Electric services within Landbase Services.
  • Present upgrade/version of GIS/Designer Training: this includes, but not limited to training on new tools/processes to team members needing ability to edit and/or view GIS/Designer.
  • Create and maintain all Landbase map symbology.
  • Analyze and interpret spatial data including but not limited to ortho-aerial imagery to ensure data integrity of Landbase features performed by Landbase Services.
  • Organizes, maintains, and archives computer data, drawings, maps and files.
  • Working knowledge of personal computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Explorer, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Produce maps as requested.
  • Perform query analysis of GIS data to produce maps or Excel spreadsheets as requested.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communications skills
High level of accuracy of work and attention to detail
Standard knowledge of Geography, Cartography, GIS technology, and various digital data formats such as DGN, DWG, and Shapefiles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in GIS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling
  • Familiarity with GIS applications in planning, public policy or related intergovernmental process

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Primarily Indoor work with some Outdoor field checks as requested, operating computer, manual dexterity with repetitive hand motion, talking, listening.
Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
