Position Summary

Applies electric measurement theory and related knowledge to residential, commercial and industrial electric distribution, services and meter installations. Ensures national and local code compliance. Maintains, interprets and applies the CPS Energy Electric Service Standards.  Maintains Electric Meter Wiring Standards. Coordinates special projects as assigned, provides project estimates and budget inputs and additional duties as required.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Ensures Code Compliance for CPS Energy by maintaining, interpreting and applying the CPS Energy Electric Service Standards Manual by reviewing and maintaining the Electric Meter Wiring Standards Manual. 
Conducts root cause analysis and makes written recommendations. 
Develops training materials and delivers presentations.
Conducts job site visits for the purpose of collecting data for decision-making and resolving Customer issues.
Research, purchases and tests equipment used in the measurement of electricity.
Handles and coordinates special projects as assigned.
Communicates and interacts effectively with other CPS departments and customers.
Review with proficiency for approval 1-lines residential and commercial Distributive Generation (DG) systems (less than 500 kWac). Review with proficiency for approval of 1-lines with proficiency including: residential, small commercial, and large commercial projects served from a single transformer. 
Review and approve contractor payment invoices. 
Recognize, evaluate, and research High Temperature alerts and hazards, and troubleshoot unregistered and improperly operating DG systems. Coordinate within CPS Energy, and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to determine best course of action and implement solution. 
Utilize UIQ and SAP to obtain load profiles and quality meter reads to assist with meter investigations, assist Customer inquiries, and evaluate data to make decisions.
Can manage multiple numerous service requests, tasks, and multiple projects simultaneously. 
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

All qualifications of level 1 plus the following:
Understands general fundamentals of electricity.
Intermediate experience in electric metering/service preferably in the public or utility sector. Access and evaluate meter data to provide recommendations and make decisions.
General knowledge of ERCOT and PUC rules as applied to service and metering.
Understands general principles of Distributive Generation systems (Photovoltaic, Battery Storage Systems).
Proficient with computers, SAP, Microsoft suite (Power Point, Excel).
General knowledge of Electric Service Standards, COSA electrical code, and National Electric Safety Codes.
Can perform reviews of moderately complex 1-lines.
Works collaboratively with across the company including: Meter Shop, Service Crews, and Design Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiar with moderately complex power analysis equations.
Solid knowledge of the National Electric Safety Codes.
22 hours of electric/ electronic courses or equivalent upon review and assessment of their job skill knowledge.
Mid-level experience with 1-line electrical design or review.

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equip, phone, multi-functioning printer & calculator. Ability to travel to & from meetings, training sessions or other busi-related events.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
