Position Summary

Provides proactive, strategic and project management services to teams, business customers, and management with a focus on facilitating a positive and effective safety culture strategy. Manages project deliverables, including scope requirements, cost/budget/contract management, schedule management, risk evaluation and mitigation. The role continuously assesses the culture of targeted areas across the company, recommends improvements and/or interventions, and works collaboratively with the company and Union(s) to drive strategic and systematic change thru process improvement, program development, project management, coaching and safety culture related tools/initiatives. Establishes collaborative and strong relationships with operational and decision makers as well as Union leaders throughout the organization. Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the CPS Energy organization. Participates in strategic, grassroots safety culture efforts and the development of departmental goals and objectives.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Performs functions such as project management, program management, strategic planning and/or resource planning and budgeting. 
  • Develops and submits business cases and presents alternatives solutions for critical business issues and projects. 
  • Ensures the integration of sound project management principles and practices into all projects. 
  • Develops documentation of business processes within applicable divisions. 
  • Generates reports and performs analysis of project data. 
  • Facilitates teams, including team chartering, group problem solving and/or process improvement work. 
  • Effectively communicates issues and recommends strategies and tactics. 
  • Verifies project completion, deliverable acceptance, release of project resources and archives final project records. 
  • Performs Field Rep responsibilities in managing procurement contracts and technical specifications for vendor or contractor services. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate updates to enterprise, Senior Leaders, CEO, and Union Leaders.
  • Communicates relevant project information and status to sponsors, stakeholders, and project team members.
  • Provides leadership and manages Safety Culture initiatives according to the organization’s project methodology. 
  • Conducts regular focus group with small groups of employees to gather feedback on key issues related to culture and engagement, provide timely summary feedback to manager and senior leader on identified themes, and help develop plans to address issues as needed.
  • Ensures that projects meet expectations regarding schedule, budget, scope and quality through metrics and benchmarking. 
  • Partners with Union leadership to drive ownership and advocacy of safety culture and safety training initiatives for all employees.
  • Leads multiple, cross-functional projects, activities and initiatives and identify risks that require contingency plans to mitigate concerns and ensure project success.
  • Creates & administers surveys to the organization; collects/compiles data to identify trends/areas of improvement; reports and communicates results.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Industry recognized project and or change management certification.
Experience working with a Portfolio and Project Management Software product, Clarity or other.
Comprehensive and seasoned hands-on experience in areas such as project management, program management, strategic planning, resource planning and budgeting.
Exceptional experience in team facilitation, including team chartering, group problem solving or process improvement work.
Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to project manage and make strategic decisions with ambiguous information; drive for effective results; proactive.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage time and properly document processes and provide a high degree of service to CPS Energy internal customers in responding to operational and safety culture needs of the business.
Ability to lead, teach and communicate effectively with internal and external customers at all levels of the CPS Energy organization.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results with minimal supervision, both independently and as part of a team.
Understanding and experience within the Union Environment.
Ability to handle confidential and/or competitively sensitive data.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with Visio

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Indoor and outdoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. May work with dangerous equipment and be exposed to noise, fumes, extreme temperatures.
Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. After hours work may be required.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
