Position Summary
Lead and manage a team of Load Research and data analytics professionals in the Demand Side Analytics team under the broader Energy Portfolio Analytics team. The position requires an experienced professional with a strong background in analytics to deliver data-driven insights into how various customer classes use energy and how demand interventions affect homes' and businesses' use of energy. This role involves creating and analyzing large datasets and working closely with various departments to ensure accurate and reliable load research and data analytics that inform operations, strategic planning, and decision-making.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of analysts/program managers, managing team dynamics, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Manage team members' recruitment, transfer of knowledge, and professional development.

Ensure team objectives are aligned with the company’s goals.

Oversee the development of the measurement and verification (M&V) of demand response (DR) events of various residential and commercial program strategies across differing seasons, and timeframes.

Oversee the development of load research demand analysis and energy consumption load profile pattern creation.

Direct the preparation, utilization, and documentation of statistical models for demand analyses.

Ensure that load research studies are based on appropriate electric or gas interval usage data, billing, weather, system load, and/or other data sources; and that the analytic results accurately reflect the contributing loads of the various customers and classes being studied.

Analyze and interpret large complex data sets to identify drivers of load variability and trends.

Ensure the accuracy and reliability of load research and data analytics models and methodologies.

Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations to customers, senior management, and stakeholders.

Work closely with other departments, including Energy Supply, Customer Strategy, Technology & Product Innovation to ensure the DR management system (DRMS) or distributed energy resource management system (DERMS) are operational, DR strategies successfully deployed and measured.

Collaborate with finance teams to ensure alignment with rate, regulatory requirements, and financial targets by working closely to integrate load research insights into financial planning, rate development, and cost of service modeling processes.

Coordinate with designated IT departments to ensure project implementation.

Coordinate with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry groups, and research institutions, to stay informed about developments impacting load research and data analytics.

Communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Stay current with industry best practices, emerging programs and technologies, and regulatory changes affecting load research.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and relevance of load research processes.

Implement advanced techniques, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, where appropriate.

Generate and support Request for Proposals that include Scope of Work and evaluation factors critical in the selection of qualified consultants for load research, M&V, cost of service analysis, program evaluators, DRMS, and DERMS.

Perform other research and analysis as assigned.

Perform tasks and support toward EPA Management and other senior team members.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PHD in engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Proficiency in utility load research and utility Demand Response measurement and verification techniques.
- Project Management skills.
