Position Summary

This is an exciting time to join CPS Energy as part of the founding team that is defining the digital transformation to become a Digital Utility. We are looking for a hands-on technical manager to join our Digital Engineering team and take our web and mobile solutions to the next level for our electric & gas residential and commercial customers, partners, and employees. The individual needs to be passionate about recruiting and leading web and mobile dev teams; exploring and recommending emerging technologies; establishing repeatable best processes; and delivering solutions that meet business, technical, and audience needs. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations of our products and services with a focus on maintaining high application uptime SLAs and releasing secure and bug-free software as well as developing applications and products. 

This role will work closely with both our IT and business leaders, partners and cross-functional peers to engineer, integrate, develop new features, services or capabilities which evolve the digital experience for customers and employees and directly contribute to CPS Energy’s digital transformation.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support CPS Energy’s mission to continuously improve customer, employee, and partner digital experiences by leading teams with transparency, inspection, and adaptation.
  • Work with stakeholders, vendors, and CPS Energy leaders to foster a culture that supports respect, focus, courage, openness, and commitment.
  • Manage the design, development, and implementation of high priority digital product development ensuring effective transition of new digital processes and ways of working, via close collaboration with cross functional business and operating teams.
  • Deliver key perspectives on emerging digital trends and technologies as well as own performance analyses and market perspectives to inform broader strategic direction.
  • Act as a strategic, regional, hands-on project lead for enterprise-wide digital transformation. 
  • Coordinate and manage cross-functional workstreams during the diagnosis/evaluation, design/development and testing/execution phases.
  • Integrate and track delivery of cross-functional accountabilities to anticipate, prevent, and resolve potential issues.
  • Participate in cross-functional workstreams that deliver enterprise-wide strategic priorities; represent digital transformation and brand point of view in business, technology, and initiative reviews.
  • Work with other organization leaders to create an environment that increases productivity, product value and quality by facilitating the removal of impediments between stakeholders and project-product delivery or product teams.
  • Advocate product management and optimization of key strategic current and future platforms/solutions investments.
  • Build and maintain effective and collaborative vendor and partner relationships for digital collaboration & communication products and solutions including cpsenergy.com sites, m365, ECM Content Services, employee intranet, enterprise portals, and mobile applications.
  • Oversee and provide product/technical delivery with management support for successful delivery of digital projects.
  • Provide guidance to cross functional teams on requirement interpretation and technical mapping, product roadmap & decisions, address usability issues, and project prioritization. 
  • Collaborate with peers in design, usability, accessibility, and project management to optimize the end-to-end product life cycle. 
  • The manager will encourage the adoption of industry best practices and software engineering standards as we build new greenfield solutions and architectures as part of our enterprise digital transformation initiatives; integrate and roll-out high-quality digital products with user-focused experiences for employees, customers and partners; collaborate and build the digital team’s trust and accountability while ensuring essential information is shared effectively.  

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Hands on technical management experience working in a technology software product or services companies; including roles as a digital product, software engineering or development manager who has directly led a team of direct reports.
Exposure and experience applying core software development-management and support operations methodologies.
Proficient experience with Software Technology Marketplace, exposure running RFIs/RFPs; vendor and contract negotiation and management experience.
Relevant information technology and/or business management experience, including significant time within digital functions.
Demonstrated hands on experience collaborating with other disciplines within the software development industry including design, usability, accessibility, and product management to ensure continuous improvement and development.
Experience in applying a variety of secure software product development standards & techniques, e.g. OWASP, NIST-SSDF, CI/CD, AGILE, SCRUM especially in CORE software product development teams.
Hard conversations skills, guiding thorough inspection and exploring options to change.
Conflict resolution and excellent communication skills to lead employees, customers, and partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Engineering Degree or Certificate in software development or engineering or related business administration 
  • Relevant Technical Certifications from leading technology vendors Eg (Microsoft, IBM, Adobe, AWS, Azure etc)

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or similar field or equivalent experience.

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi- functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
