Position Summary

The Manager is responsible for coordinating efforts and providing coaching to a high performance team delivering visual analytics and ensuring effective data access and management in support of analytics and innovation at CPS Energy.  The Manager is the person with the confidence and ability required to generate original ideas and programs and to take them to our stakeholders (both internal and external) with gusto. He/she can effectively operate at both the strategic level as well as the smallest technical and technological details, collaborating with, learning from and educating top class professional colleagues with diverse backgrounds, from energy market intelligence, power generation to finance.
They will be challenged intellectually by working on new propositions, thinking about existing practices differently, working in small diverse groups and switching between hands on analytics development, team management and team coaching.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of data integration specialists, data engineers or analysts, and data analytics specialist assigning schedules, and projects.
  • Assess the validity and rigor of new data sources and approaches, establishing scalable frameworks for ongoing evaluation as appropriate.
  • Develop, implement, and disseminate metrics about quality, performance and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with executives and other departments to identify and meet data access and visual analytics (business intelligence) needs.
  • Analyze and validate findings, creating reports, presentations, and visualizations.
  • Responsible for execution of visual analytics strategy.
  • In charge of ETL, Data Warehouse, BI tool and analytic toolset administration used by Enterprise Advanced Analytics.
  • Analyze and validate findings, creating reports, presentations, and visualizations.
  • Consult and train business partners on the use of results, tools or dashboards provided as well as on the proper management of data sources, thereby improving data integrity.
  • Developing plans for the business for the operationalization of analytics products.
  • Serve as conduit within CPS Energy supporting the incubation of innovative solutions for the benefit of CPS Energy customers and our community.
  • Be an enthusiastic advocate for advanced analytics and business partner access to data and information in order to create value for CPS Energy customers and our community.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Demonstrated work experience leading teams of highly technical individuals.
Proven ability to develop visual analytics and business intelligence reporting.
Ability to interact with members at all levels in the organization and the community.
Ability to frame technically difficult conversations in business terms.
Experience with ETL tools, experience developing data flows, advanced programming.
Demonstrated knowledge of big data computing and API development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in business, finance, computer science, data analytics or similar field.
  • Expertise in Hadoop ecosystem including HDFS and Spark Analytics
  • Expertise in Python programming
  • Expertise in API Management using Mulesoft, Apigee or similar API Gateway Mgmt

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations research, or a similar field

Working Environment

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events. After hours work may be required.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
