Position Summary
The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio college students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to perform, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used.
The Security Governance Intern plays an important supporting role in several ongoing day to day security operations and project compliance, both cyber and physical. The intern will assist management with assessing, evaluating and ensuring the requisite compliance levels of security operations and projects designed to protect the organization against all threats. The Cybersecurity Intern will support and assist the Security Governance team in support of daily operations.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Work as part of the security governance team on various aspects of the security field to include NERC, TSA and Corporate Compliance, vulnerability mitigation enforcement, and third-party security risk reduction. The Security Governance intern will get exposure to following areas:
• Vulnerability management/mitigation
• NERC Compliance
• TSA Compliance
• Corporate Compliance
• Network Compliance
• Third-party Security Compliance
• Incident response Compliance and monitoring
• Training and Awareness Compliance
• Governance, Risk, and Compliance
The internship will conclude with a security project that will be determined by CPS Energy leadership and the intern’s scholastic institution (will vary by candidate’s skillset).
