Position Summary

This role focuses on the coordination and design of installations, extensions and/or system improvements. Specific work varies by area:

Residential Services - Designs the installation of overhead line extensions, underground electric line extensions and gas main extensions for new and existing residential customers. Also, design the service installation, remodels, and rerouting of electric and gas facilities.

Commercial Services - Coordinates and designs line extensions and service installations/upgrades/remodels for commercial customers.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Residential Services - Designs the installation of overhead line extensions, underground electric line extensions and gas main extensions for new and existing residential customers. Also, design the service installation, remodels, and rerouting of electric and gas facilities. Date manage, document interactions, and project manage business cases to meet customer needs and expectations. Deliver stellar customer service and aligning the customers request with CPS Energy’s policies and procedures.
Commercial Services - coordinates and designs electric and/or gas line extensions for small to medium commercial customers; coordinates and designs new commercial three-phase and single-phase service installations/remodels/upgrades with engineers, contractors and electricians, including multimeter installations; coordinates and designs gas service installations for small to medium commercial customers.

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to meet goals and objectives with minimal direct supervision
Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communications skills for interaction within the section, across departmental lines to all levels of personnel, and vertically with management.
Initiative to work independently or as a member of a team, coordinating with others to achieve desired results
Ability to work in a variety of locations such as the field, construction centers and the main office
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling
Ability to set priorities, organize work and make occasional exceptions.
Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with customers and support teams.
Demonstrated positive interpersonal behaviors toward CPS Energy, associates, and customers consistent with company core values.

Preferred Qualifications

Depending on business area, preferred knowledge needed in items such as:

  • Overhead electric distribution design and construction standards
  • Designer/GIS, WMIS, and SAP
  • Three-phase underground electric distribution design and construction standards
  • Downtown Network design and construction standards
  • Gas design and construction standards
  • Electric Service Standards
  • Electric and Gas Line Extension Policies
  • Relative experience in supporting utility construction & maintenance.

Minimum Education

Associate degree in Science with a concentration in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or related field from an accredited university
Relative experience in design, industry experience, strong customer service background, or project management in lieu of degree

Working Environment

Work is performed indoors & outdoors. Manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of computing equipment, telephone, & printer/copier. Ability to travel to and from business related events. After hours work may be required.
