Position Summary

Performs accounting support in Financial Service as related to such accounting and financial control functions as recording, classifying, data processing and management, reporting, analyzing and interpreting business transactions and costs.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the timely, accurate and complete reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Oversee the timely, accurate completion of steps associated with monthly Pension & Disability payrolls (upload of positive pay files, wire and check issuances related to deductions withheld from payroll recipients)
  • Process routine administrative/investment expense payments, ensuring proper authorization
  • Ensure appropriate communication with the bank on incoming/outgoing transactions
  • Prepare assigned journal entries in QuickBooks and update associated support schedules
  • Coordinate Investment Manager visits, ensuring presentation materials & audio/visual equipment available as needed.
  • Monitor and update compliance database & checklists to ensure critical functions are completed on timely basis.
  • Ensure logistical needs for interim and annual audits are met (conference rooms, contractor badges, internet access, etc.).
  • Prepare audit confirmation letters and respond to audit requests for transaction support.
  • Ensure approved Admin Committee meeting minutes are signed and filed appropriately.
  • Lead the effort to distribute the annual communication to all participants, ensuring paper, envelopes, and labels are available and appropriate distribution list created for hard-copy communication.


Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to work with detailed quantitative data with a high degree of accuracy

Ability to examine information and apply logical thought processes

Consistently demonstrates highly effective oral and written communication skills with internal and external customers.

Ability to work independently by effectively completing tasks with minimal supervision.

Ability to work occasional overtime as determine by management to meet business needs.

Consistently demonstrates a willingness and ability to work with others, independently minimizes and resolves conflicts by effectively and collaboratively working thru issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree with a successful completion of minimum of 6 hours of accounting coursework or 60 hours towards an Accounting or Finance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling.
  • Experience in increasingly complex and diversified financially-related work (such as internal/external experience in Financial Operations, Controller, Finance, ERMS, or other divisions within CPS Energy).

Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel between business related events. Work hours may be extended.
