Position Summary

The Director of Underground Integrated Operations Const & Maint provides executive leadership to the Integrated Underground Construction & Maintenance organization, including downtown network, underground military base infrastructure, underground cable exits, and all commercial & residential underground service (both three-phase and single-phase) construction and maintenance functions. Including the determination of priorities and ensuring projects are constructed in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner consistent with the customer’s schedule and CPS Energy’s policies and standards. This role is responsible for achieving high levels of performance by staff, fostering a positive “one-team” culture, and effective partnerships with Union Teams. They will provide oversight and management of strategies in Underground Integrated Operations Const & Maint, which includes benchmarking, safety metrics, fleet, headcount planning, and budgets; and contribute to the overall vision, direction, and success of CPS Energy’s strategic objectives through normal, emergency, and disaster recovery events, impacting the CPS Energy Overhead Electric Distribution system without sacrificing safety or financial responsibilities. The ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, business-related events, and construction sites in normal and inclement weather is essential to the position.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership to the Integrated Underground Construction & Maintenance organization, including the determination of priorities for the effective allocation of resources, timelines, and escalations.
• Accountable for developing, implementing and evaluating safety programs, initiatives, and work practices needed to improve safety metrics and ensuring adequate safety training, practices, and processes are in place and adhered to for the safety performance of the organization’s personnel.
• Ensures the timely delivery of projects for the distribution electric system in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
• Accountable for ensuring all equipment is in proper, safe working order and that all work complies with applicable safety and environmental laws, regulations, and ordinances.
• Accountable for the effective management and completion of critical capital and maintenance that improves the reliability and metrics related to the electric distribution system.
• Manage the UIO construction and maintenance, including prioritizing and effectively allocating resources to support maintenance and capital programs and customer response, while achieving of both Capital and O&M budget targets.
• Accountable for developing and implementing programs, initiatives, and practices to improve safety, productivity and staff development.
• Provide leadership and support to create a One-Team culture that improves Safety, production, and financial security.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Experience with Working Agreements and Internal & External contract requirements.
• Knowledge of environmental practices related to construction.
• Experience participating on or with the Board of Trustees or Committees.
• Experience managing distribution maintenance programs and budgets.
