Position Summary

The Power Generation Programmer / Systems Analyst is responsible for ensuring availability, integrity and security of information contained within the OSI PI system. This role will include architecture recommendations for gathering data; design of  solution; and execution of designed plan. Daily responsibilities include security analysis, event correlation, health monitoring and system maintenance.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance existing OSI PI systems;
  • Perform administrative duties and system hardening on OSI PI systems;
  • Evaluate system security, system performance and data integrity of OSI PI systems;
  • Interpret complex regulatory verbiage in order to contribute to internal dialogue regarding practical applications that will satisfy compliance and CPS Energy policies;
  • Develop coursework and conduct training sessions for groups or individuals as required to maintain business continuity;
  • Assess end user challenges and implement resolutions while adhering to established change control procedures;
  • Document system changes in accordance with Change Control Procedures;
  • Identify and work to resolve performance and integrity related issues;
  • Lead and participate in projects with focus on data organization and integrity. Identify and make recommendations for enhancements where applicable;
  • Perform proactive analysis using OSI PI reporting and notifications for overall system health;
  • Assist in data gathering as needed for data analytics;
  • Seek innovative ways to integrate PI data with “Big Data” tools to allow end users to correlate with external data sources;
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Skills

Personal Computer Usage

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Programmer/analyst experience in a field supporting and providing technical and analytical solutions.
Extensive knowledge of programmer/analyst experience in a field supporting and providing financial and operational solutions.
Experience working with moderately complex data.
Understands processes and procedures in specialized field.
Exceptionally strong analytical and problem solving abilities
Demonstrated ability to multi-task various critical work assignments proactively and independently in a fast paced environment and in a professional manner.
Ability to effectively manage sensitive and confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on” experience in OSI PI system administration;
  • Proficiency in implementing solutions using OSI PI, such as implementing AF models, Analytics, PI Vision, and data collection;
  • Understanding of Industrial Controls Systems and various forms of communication used within those systems;
  • Scripting capabilities such as PowerShell;
  • PI High Availability and PI server replications;
  • Microsoft Integrated Security/Kerberos;
  • Understanding of AZURE Cloud;
  • Experience with Transactional-SQL;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP requirements and challenges;

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Math, the Natural Sciences, or other quantitative field from an accredited university or related area; proven working experience may be used in lieu of degree
