Position Summary

Manages work packages to ensure project deliverables are met through collaboration with CPS Energy’ IT Infrastructure, Communication Services, Service Support and IT Operations teams.  Works with Application Development and Business Unit teams and provide proper guidance to ensure Windows client software and services are designed, tested, documented, implemented, enhanced and maintained according to the operations standards and expected service quality.  Provides Tier 3 proactive and reactive service and performance management for mission critical systems and client systems.  Responds to real-time performance alerts to resolve performance problems.  Conducts regular on-going review/analysis of performance data to identify current performance problems and proactively detect potential future performance problems.  Ensures proper selection and deployment of technologies, creation or improvement of all processes, and the recruiting or retaining of motivated, skilled people.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Sought as a subject matter expert with Microsoft Window Administration, Microsoft Active Directory, VMware Virtualization, and Cloud native solutions from a design/usage perspective, and created a knowledge hub to convey best practices, common issues, and lessons learned.
  • Requires expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server software, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange and/or other industry standard server platform services.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining an Active Directory Infrastructure, including, design and implementation of group policy, domain consolidation for large scale organizations.
  • Experience in managing VMware in Hyper Converged and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure; installing ESXi servers, configuring vCenter server with all clustering features and provisioning virtual machines using templates and vRealize automation.
  • Experience in VMware Cloud Foundation and NSX micro-segmentation design and implementation is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple storage technologies including SAN/NAS, interfaces, data replications and backup and recovery solutions.
  • Strong understanding of change control procedures, security patch management, high availability, business continuity, and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Exceptionally strong troubleshooting and problems solving skills with demonstrated persistence in driving solutions through to completion.
  • Experience in creating and modifying scripts to configure and automate common tasks with esxcli or PowerCLI and any of the common scripting languages (Powershell/ BASH/Perl/Python/etc).
  • Requires good understanding of LAN topology, Networking Devices, firewalls and network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP, etc.
  • Good understanding of Linux and Unix environment a plus

Ability to provide on-call production support on a rotating basis.
Knowledge of the principles of data communications and telecommunications.
Knowledge of computer operating systems, storage virtualization, compute virtualization, and hypervisors.
Works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. Incumbents have considerable freedom to decide on work priorities and procedures to be followed.
Knowledge of Linux/Unix environment.
Infrastructure/analyst experience in a field supporting and providing technical and analytical solutions.
Experience working with moderately complex data.
Understands processes and procedures in specialized field.
Relative experience in information technology infrastructure management for Operational Units.
Knowledge of infrastructure/analyst experience in a field supporting and providing system administration solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as a Systems Administrator in Microsoft Windows and VMware Virtualization environment.
  • Collaborate in assessing current and expected Windows infrastructure needs, configuration, maintenance, optimization and documentation of Windows infrastructure.
  • Strong communication and technical skills, prior experience of leading teams and working on a highly process driven environment.
  • Willingness and ability to learn emerging technologies to continually expand skillset.
  • Relative experience in supporting utility construction & maintenance.
  • Knowledge about DevOps Tools supporting Continuous Delivery Ansible, Git, Jenkins, and Bugz

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Computer Systems, Management Information Systems or related field from an accredited university OR equivalent working experience

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel between business related events. Work hours may be extended.
