Position Summary

Seeking an experienced financial analyst to join our Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. The FP&A team is primarily responsible with performing forward looking financial analysis to enable a better understanding of where the business is heading and to link the company’s strategic and business planning efforts to resource allocation.  The team is responsible for the development of the company’s 25-year long-range financial plan, as well as the 5-year detailed financial plan by business unit.  FP&A leads the annual Enterprise Budget Process and monthly forecasting processes.  The area also serves as a strategic business partner, providing financial decision support analytics, including assistance with business case development and financial impact modeling of potential business decisions.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Supports and/or leads the corporate cost management program. Includes but not limited to managing the corporate cost management best practices and supporting the business units with financial analysis and board presentation review.  Continue to develop programs and outreach to the business units to encourage cost management and track corporate cost savings. Manage the corporate PCARD reporting and monthly analytics.
• Leads complex business modeling and financial analysis to support assessment and recommendations of key corporate strategic initiatives, including asset valuation and cost management savings proposals.
• Supports and/or leads the corporate business case program, cost benefit and cost estimating support and helping internal customers develop business cases by providing financial acumen support.
• Prepares monthly Sales/Revenue reporting and other profitability analytics.
• Prepare routine and ad hoc analysis and management reporting including detailed driver-based spreadsheet modeling, variance analysis, summary presentation materials, and written documents as needed to support executive level decision makers.
• Proactively drive analysis on key trends and drivers behind the trends we are seeing in the results by preparing monthly and quarterly management reporting - assessing current and future business risk and communicating/presenting key messages to management.
• Develop knowledge of the CPS business units and establish cross functional business partner relationships demonstrating the value that the FP&A team and sound financial analysis can add to the decision-making process.

• Supports and/or leads corporate processes and reporting related to annual Integrated Planning and monthly Latest Estimate (LE).  Includes but not limited to target setting, budget/LE calendar, O&M, Capital and Labor reporting, corporate budget accounts management, corporate budget metric reporting and budget and LE presentation development.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Possess a valid driver’s license with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPSE policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations
Accountant/analyst experience in a field supporting and providing technical and analytical solutions.
Initiative to work independently or as a member of a team, coordinating with others to achieve desired results
Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service.
Ability to make independent decisions and often makes recommendations which affect the section, department and/or division
Ability to work concurrently with multiple deadlines and deliverables; great attention to detail; results oriented.
Ability to work at any location at any time with extensive time in the field working with business areas
Knowledge of accounting/analyst experience in a field supporting and providing financial and operational solutions.
Relative experiences in financial/project management for Operational Units.
Ability to identify alternative solutions for development of decision-making proposals, which support organizational goals/objectives and budget constraints.
Understands processes and procedures in specialized field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or relevant Certification.
  • Extensive experience as an accountant/analyst or in a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in SAP, PeopleSoft, or Hyperion.
  • Relative experience in supporting the electric or gas utility industry.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with concentration in Finance, Accounting, Auditing or related field from an accredited university.

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel between business related events. Work hours may be extended.
