Position Summary
The Plant Business Manager will provide leadership and oversight for all areas of plant administration and perform other assigned tasks as required to support ongoing plant operations. This includes providing analysis, planning, scheduling, and coordination of administrative duties to ensure the timely completion of payroll, general accounting, purchasing, receiving, and inventory management.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and timely invoices, inventory summaries, cash requirements, budget variance reports and other requirements as needed.
- Oversees the financial budgeting (headcount & labor, O&M expense and capital) and Latest Estimate (LE) activities supporting the Sr. VP Power Generation organization, including the accurate entry of dollars by cost center / element / project into the financial planning systems
- Manages plant administration activities carried out by Data Control Clerks
- Leads the plant budget development process, recordkeeping, compliance / variance reporting.
- Coordinates plant performance metric tracking and reporting.
- Works closely with supply chain and plant team to effectively control material procurement and inventory management processes and reporting.
- Develops and executes plans to accomplish development, regular updating, and monitoring of the department budget and cost forecasts.
- Provides appropriate information, recommendations, and guidance to department personnel to obtain the necessary input to support the budget development and monitoring process.
- Coordinates / prepares plant monthly, quarterly, and annual business reports.
- Coordinates plant performance review meetings.
- Prepares journal corrections and coordinates monthly and year-end accruals.
- Assists department management in developing, monitoring, and reporting on departmental level initiatives, goals, and objectives.
- Prepares special cost/budget reports and analyses at the request of department management.
- Supports and emphasizes importance of safety and environmental programs and ensures regulatory compliance.
- Ensures all Company resources are utilized in a cost-effective manner, estimates resource requirements, monitors expenditures, and reports on performance of assigned area.
- Ensures documents are reviewed and approved/sealed in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Implements and maintains development plans (to include mentoring, coaching and developmental assignments) for direct and indirect reports to ensure knowledge capture, business continuity and effective succession planning.
- Seeks continuous improvement in the financial planning process to include enhanced, standardized reporting, automation of processes, and enhancement of business cases and other decision making / prioritization tools.
- Direct communication with teams to reinforce policy and business unit priorities, improve employee engagement and respond to issues affecting the work force, including effective union relationship.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
