Position Summary

The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio high school and college students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to perform, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used.

The Communications & Marketing intern will gain valuable experience with the Corporate Communications & Marketing team. The intern will have opportunities to learn from our Internal Communications, Public Relations, Executive Brand, and Marketing teams. The focus will be on news material writing, creative content development, social media, design and copywriting.  Provide input into development of marketing and communications strategies and plans targeting internal and external customers. They will support the creative process and will learn to develop strategic communications and marketing plans while executing on some of the deliverables.  The intern will be responsible for collaboration and coordination with our various teams and will meet all goals related to initiatives and projects.  

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Create social media content. 

  • Develop marketing materials. 

  • Ability to collaborate across the team with various levels within the organization.  

  • Respond to time-sensitive requests for quantitative and qualitative analysis.  

  • Support brand management and messaging online and across current and future digital channels in support of CPS Energy’s mission, One Team culture, and the safety. 

  • Support execution of plans for digital media, tools, materials, presentations and other deliverables to support residential customer service and business account management’s objectives. 

  • Attend CPS Energy, community and industry events and initiatives to capture photos, videos, and stories for timely digital publishing. 

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, be collaborative, and have a strong client-service background and orientation. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Skills

Personal Computer Usage

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Must be currently enrolled in a related discipline.
A minimum GPA of 2.5.
Must currently reside within 120 miles of CPS Energy Headquarters.
Demonstrated leadership potential.
Self-motivated and results oriented.
Exceptional communication skills.
Effective networking skills.
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate an interest in a career applicable to the utility industry.
Participate in full-time employment with CPS Energy.
