Position Summary
At Power Plant, a 2x1 Combined Cycle plant, the Purchasing and Warehouse Coordinator manages purchasing and warehouse logistics of the plant. The position administers the plant's inventory program, including analyzing critical spare parts inventories. The position interfaces directly with Plant Management, Operations and Maintenance team to write specifications for equipment and parts, and orders parts and equipment as needed to support plant maintenance needs. The position directs shipments and resolves logistical challenges by communicating with Plant Management and suppliers. The position also tracks and places orders for consumable inventory, including chemicals and supplies.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Purchasing
- Orders stock and non-stock materials as needed.
- Researches equipment and parts specifications for replacements and solicits quotes from vendors.
- Processes purchase requisitions in SAP for new materials contracts.
- Complete Good Receipts and labels all stock inventory.
- Coordinates with CPS Energy planners and schedulers to track parts ordered and received.
- Works with Plant Management to ensure all purchases are comprehended in budget.
- Manages Purchase Order contracts.
- Interfaces directly with vendors to place orders and follow up on deliveries.
- Orders chemicals.
- Maintains working knowledge of various procurement processes and applies them to ensure appropriate business practices are followed.
Warehouse/Inventory
- Receives all materials ordered for inventory and/or non-stock materials for maintenance and repairs.
- Manages plant outage related parts and material orders.
- Maintains and utilizes computerized management system (SAP) for inventory control purposes.
- Analyzes critical spare parts inventories and strategizes to ensure minimum quantities area available for unforeseen maintenance needs.
- Processes Standard Material Revisions (SMR) in order to create new inventory items for critical spares or make updates to existing stock items.
- Supports unannounced inventory audits.
- Manages warehouse operations to ensure incoming and outgoing inventory is processed according to procedures.
- Operates warehouse forklift, all terrain forklift, boom forklift and other heavy equipment for unloading deliveries and moving materials in a safe manner.
- Manages quality control by inspecting inventory and packaging for materials received or to be shipped.
- Sets up logical organization systems of warehouse for improved efficiency and parts organization.
- Maintains records of all fixed assets and purchase requisitions and obtains all necessary signatures for approval.
- Implements all purchasing and inventory management programs and procedures.
- Coordinates with counterparts at other plants for shared inventory.
- Responsible for all aspects of processing reverse logistics material.
- Completes special projects as directed by Plant Management.
Shipping Duties
- Directs shipments and resolves logistical challenges by communicating with plant leadership and suppliers.
- Prepares and ships parts for repair/refurbishment.
- Prepares and ships contractor tooling and supplies.
- Completes Bill of Lading and coordinates shipping of heavy freight (parts over 40 lbs.)
- Prepares and schedules “Hot Shot” services as needed.
Other Duties
- Schedules heavy equipment rentals.
- Schedules portable sanitary facilities.
- Orders and schedules onsite fuel supply.
- Conducts safety observations for continuous safety improvement of the warehouse.
Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Purchasing experience preferred.
- Previous experience in warehouse work including shipping, receiving and inventory control.
- General accounting experience is desirable.
- Experience with a mechanical trade is desirable.
